Meet Ricardo
Santa Maria and Guadalupe Native. Santa Maria High School Teacher.
School District Board Member.
North County Leader of the Year (2025).
What sets Ricardo apart is his track record of working directly in the community and with the community.
For over fifteen years, Ricardo has taught and led students at his alma mater, Santa Maria High School, returning home to give back after earning degrees from UC Berkeley and Tufts University.
He became a Santa Maria-Bonita School Board Elected Official in 2020 and was re-elected in 2024 with over 70% of the vote, as a result of successful initiatives to strengthen the district from within. Through one such initiative, he built a partnership with Cal Lutheran university to train, certify, and hire local educators to teach bilingually in local classrooms.
He is an award-winning elected official who was recognized as North County Leader of the Year in 2025.
